The secret to surviving this holiday shopping season is to recharge at a restaurant such as Los Cabos Mexican Grill. Los Cabos is a family-run business offering homemade Mexican dishes with California flair. It is located a few blocks southwest of the Promenade Mall of Temecula along the Jefferson St. corridor.
It is a perfect location for those seeking solace before they brave the shopping crowds or refuge after. One cannot help but feel re-energized by the ambience when they walk through the double doors. The walls are a golden Mediterranean yellow with cerulean blue ceilings, lively fun Latin music plays in the background creating a vacation-like atmosphere. The neighborhood grill is named after a municipality at the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula famous for its fishing industry.
The menu offers traditional items such as tacos, burritos and quesadillas, but also serves salads, enchiladas as well as seafood dishes like Camarones Rancheros. Camarones Rancheros is shrimp cooked in special Ranchero Sauce and served with rice, beans and guacamole; and Fish al Ajillo is a tilapia fillet grilled with a special garlic sauce and served with rice and fried potatoes.
“All our food is prepared fresh and made here in our restaurant,” said owner Felix Aguilar. “This is what sets us apart from traditional fast-food eateries.”
When guests arrive, they are greeted by friendly staff who offer homemade salsa and chips while perusing the menu. By choosing a restaurant slightly off the beaten path away from holiday traffic, guests can escape the long wait for tables, rushed servers and instead unwind with a margarita or a natural passion fruit juice with a touch of mango shortly after they are seated.
Felix and Miriam Aguilar own Los Cabos Mexican Grill. Felix has been operating restaurants in Southern California since 1983. He fell in love with the industry growing up in El Salvador. As a child he cooked in his mother’s restaurant. Felix has carried on lessons he learned from the family business with his personal touch. His menu can be described as “California-style fusion – a new generation Mexican food.”
One of his favorite dishes is Chile Relleno served with Pasilla Chile, which gives the dish a sweet flavor and Monterey pepper jack cheese.
Through December 31 guests can enjoy a holiday special.
