Special to the Valley News
Hundreds of Temecula Valley residents celebrated The Broken Yolk Cafe’s first year anniversary on Tuesday, Oct. 8, and Wednesday, Oct. 9. The celebration included a special entree menu with various items ranging from $4.99 to $5.99, and $0.99 drinks, including mimosas, coffee, juices.
The ceremonial ribbon cutting took place on Oct. 9 at 2 p.m. with the Murrieta Chamber of Commerce. Following the ceremony, Patrick Ellis, President and CEO of Murrieta Chamber of Commerce; and Scott Agajanian, business and membership development for Murrieta Chamber of Commerce; participated in the “Broken Yolk Iron Man Challenge” – which consists of eating a 12-egg omelet smothered in chili, American cheese, onions, and mushrooms, and served with 1 1/2 pounds of Broken Yolk home-style fries and two biscuits on a 15-inch pizza pan in under one hour.
Both Ellis and Agajanian optimistically and eagerly started the “Iron Man Challenge,” digging in to their massive omelet, but by the 20 minute mark, they began to slow down.
Throughout the duration of the challenge Ellis had to take breaks to try and “walk it off.” Unfortunately, neither Ellis or Agajanian were able to complete the “Iron Man Challenge” and the Wall of Fame still has only a few hundred names out of the thousands of challengers engraved on it, which includes Travel Channel’s Man vs. Food host Adam Richman. Richman was able to complete the challenge in 32 minutes in 2010.
Broken Yolk Cafe is open from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Their menu features over 20 different omelets among other breakfast favorites and lunch entrees. Broken Yolk Cafe is located at 26495 Ynez Road in Temecula. They can also be reached at (855) 229-YOLK.
