A special anniversary is upon you, but don’t worry, it’s not your wedding anniversary. The Broken Yolk Cafe in Temecula will be celebrating its one year anniversary by having a two-day anniversary party on Tuesday, October 8 and Wednesday, October 9.
A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on October 9 at 2 p.m. with the Murrieta Chamber of Commerce. Members of the chamber, Patrick Ellis, President and CEO, and Scott “Human Vacuum” Agajanian, business and membership development – will be taking the “Broken Yolk Cafe Challenge.” The “Challenge” consists of eating a 12-egg omelet, smoothered in chili, American cheese, onions, and mushrooms, and served with Broken Yolk’s homestyle fries and two biscuits. The “Challenge” is $19.99 which normally costs $25.99 for those who want to participate against the Chamber Members on Wednesday. If you finish first, the meal is free. The winner will also receive a t-shirt and a spot on the restaurant’s Wall of Fame. Currently, the Wall of Fame bares only the picture of smiling Adam Richman, Travel Channel’s Man vs. Food host.
Ellis said he is excited and nervous about the upcoming challenge as well as for the one year anniversary. It took Ellis a few days of convincing from Agajanian to attempt the challenge. “The thing that probably put me over the top was the thought of doing something that brings more attention to a great business in our Valley and give them more exposure for the great people they are and the business they run. I am committed to that,” Ellis said.
Originally a San Diego chain, the Broken Yolk Cafe in Temecula is one of twelve of the chain’s locations and was the first to open outside of San Diego County. The chain was voted “Best Breakfast” by the San Diego magazine and San Diego Union Tribune. Oscar and Jennifer Babbs are the owners of the Temecula location. “Oscar and Jen are phenomenal people and they run a fantastic business. I am happy to support them in everything they do,” said Ellis.
Part of the celebration includes a special entree menu that will go from $4.99-$5.99, and $0.99 drinks, including mimosas and juices. The Broken Yolk Cade features over 20 different omelets and it has built a reputation for its large menu, large portions, and freshly made items, according to the chain’s website. Their hash browns and salsa are also homemade; you won’t find any dehydrated potatoes or jarred here.
Broken Yolk Cafe is open from 6 am to 3 pm and will observe normal business hours during the celebration. Broken Yolk Cafe is located at 26495 Ynez Road in Temecula. They can also be reached at (855) 229-YOLK.
